The last few days I’ve been super-happy, because none other than CBS News named me America’s sexiest fitness mom! I even wrote up another article about it on my JenniferNicoleLee.tv site!
I didn’t get to where I am today overnight. It took a long journey, and there were a few bumps on the way — and I’ll be the first to tell you that! But there were 5 fundamental things that I think really took me from overweight Mom to the FITNESS MODEL and celebrity trainer I’ve become. I talked about them with CBS News in the article, and I want to elaborate on them a little more for my fans here, on the blog.
There were a lot of times growing up when I just didn’t feel good about myself. That’s normal — it happens to the best of us.
But for me, it grew into a problem that a lot of you might be facing today — that endless feeling of never measuring up, of never feeling good enough.
Your emotions lead to a kind of “grass is greener” mentality, and you become convinced that feeling better about yourself will start tomorrow, or whenever you’re finally in shape, or god knows when.
This is a trap! The only time you’re ever going to start feeling good enough is when you take that first step, and tell yourself that every step towards the body and the lifestyle you want is a good one. If you can’t feel good on the way there, then the reward of actually reaching that body isn’t going to feel like a reward, either.
So — don’t settle for “not measuring up”. Move the goalposts as you take it day by day.
For me, it was my miscarriage and the birth of my kids — I realized how important it was to be around for them and to live life to its fullest, and only then was I able to really do what I had to do.
But just because I had a real-life “wake up call” doesn’t mean you have to. It’s not obligatory that you go through something tough before you start making a change.
Don’t even wait — do it now!
This is something I think I’ll be stressing with my clients, fans, and friends for the rest of my life — you can’t do anything except take your fitness day by day. There’s just no other way to do it!
You can’t double up on your workouts tomorrow because you’ve skipped the last 20. You can’t “catch up” on the weekend for a week of lazing around.
And you can’t expect results that might take a year to achieve in a single week, either! The only thing you can do?
Take it day by day!
I love it when my fans come to the site and get motivated — and when I get these awesome titles like “America’s Sexiest Fitness Mom”, it just encourages me to go out and motivate people even more.
But all of this would mean nothing if I didn’t constantly remind everyone — the only way this motivation can work is if it starts with you.
You’re the first person that needs to pump yourself up. Then worry about taking advice from me!
As I said in the article, I could never have done this without my kids, my husband, and the love and support of the people around me.
Not everyone is as lucky to have the same family setup that I do. But that doesn’t matter. We’ve all got someone in our lives, whether it’s someone we live with, friends we know, or heck — even virtual friends online! They are going to serve as your support network, and they’l be the first ones you’ll talk to when you’ve finally started living the healthy lifestyle you deserve.
Believe!
